| ~~~Quincy~~~ Name: Vex Hræsvelgr Alias: Corpse Swallower (Hræsvelgr), Mr. Black Age: 324 Visual Age: 29 Gender: Male Reiatsu Color: Silver and Crimson Affiliation: Rogue Rank: Lieutenant Class Quincy Epithet: N/A --------------------Persona-------------------- Appearance: Personality: Silver Tongued: Vex Hræsvelgr, a charming young man with a soothing voice. Vex has adapted the art of speech and has been able to use his words to sway others to his side in almost any debate. He listens to their reactions of the words he speaks and adjusts his tone and twists his words to make almost any foe a friendly companion, which allows him to worm his way out of almost any sticky situation. Analytical: Scanning his opponent was made a habit when studying people around him became the norm. Judging their posture, their eyes, their tone of voice…this would allow Vex to almost read his opponents like an open book. Vex would also scan his surroundings upon entering a field, looking for an escape plan and ways to utilize the field to his advantage if a conflict were to erupt. Rebel: Although his silver tongue skills would allow him to almost blend in with almost any society, Vex takes it upon himself to rebel against any high power. He would always find faults with their motives and disagree when it comes to having to end other people’s lives to achieve personal gain. Hypocrisy is made when he is determined to end any rule at any means necessary. Snarky: Vex has been known to be rude and/or sarcastic at times. His attitude can seem a little pretentious and self-absorbed, but he does indeed mean well. His remarks and quick wit usually leave him speaking in manners that demean the one that he is speaking to, as to attempt to give him an edge in a psychological sense. To break down his opponent as much as he could mentally and to leave a bit of humor as to leave them unguarded will give Vex the edge in many situations as being Snarky has effects on people that can either enrage them or cause them to lose confidence in themselves. --------------------History-------------------- History: - A Time of War and Training:
An introduction of a story begins with “Once Upon a Time,” but this is no story. This is simply a tale telling of a young man’s journey to realize his potential power and achieve his goal of vengeance. The search for a person who beheaded his dead father, unveiling of great power stored within himself which he was told to keep hidden, and finding his own path to what he believes to be the right thing. This is the tale of Vex Hræsvelgr.
A few centuries ago, the reign of Tyrant King had been starting and the birth of a Quincy named Vex Hræsvelgr had occurred. During this, Vex’s family had been forced to fight for the King during the war the King had been desperately been trying to start with his neighboring countries. The Quincy’s were amongst his elite as their powers seemed to be of great use to him. Their weapons were unique and powerful enough to slay countless foes as the King seemed to dominate his neighboring countries. Of course this would not last long when some of the Quincy’s refused to fight for him any longer. Those who were refusing to fight were proclaimed enemies to the crown and were to be killed on sight.
Vex’s Father and Mother were fighting in the war, but Vex’s father refused to fight and kidnapped his now three year old son to protect him from the war and fighting. Vex’s father knew that his son was born into a Quincy life, but he wanted Vex to learn to use the powers that had been given to him to do what he had believed was the right thing. So he began to teach Vex through rigorous training. Hardly ever taking breaks, building up Vex’s reflexes and upper body strength as well as lower body strength, but Vex didn’t find these things to interest him as his Analytical training did.
Vex would learn to judge how a person is based on their actions, even subtle movements they would make in their facial muscles and eyes. This made Vex feel as if he could read any opponent that would come into contact with him. More of Vex’s training consisted of using a Silver Tongue to get through certain situations that would require it. Using his intelligence and know-how to slip past guards and blocked off areas. During this, Vex would be forced to go out and learn to haggle as well as get into situations of which were unfriendly environments and gather information on his own, as his father instructed. This would become routine for Vex as he did it for many years.
- A Killer on Holy Ground:
On Vex’s 21st Birthday, his father had taken him out to celebrate as the wars and fighting had come to an end. Vex had been taken out for drinks and a party, which would not last long. Vex’s father had taken Vex into the back room of their home and seemed ready to say something. “You know, Vex…All of the training you had been through? It was to help protect yourself. Your Cross gives you this power and it is a unique one indeed. But now you’re going to need to hide that power. I will be going away for a while to find your mother. If things go as planned, we will be a family again. If not…well, you will know.” Vex’s dad spoke as he walked out of their home, leaving Vex alone for a while.
Months and years passed until Vex had been midway through his 24th year and he had received word that his father’s body had been found. Vex rushed to the whereabouts of his father to see that his father’s body seemed completely intact and unwounded. From what Vex could tell, it was either a heart attack or poison. His mother was said to be an expert in poisons and probably used a trap to kill him off. Vex did not know how to respond, but instead asked for a funeral for his father. The Funeral would be held a few weeks after the finding of the body. Vex would find himself riding to a valley where the ceremony would take place.
The ceremony would not take long, but Vex would have to wait one more day before entering the church to see his father. Vex was forced to stay in a home that was owned by a friend of Vex’s fathers. Vex had met with the young looking man and was informed that he himself was a Quincy. The Quincy Vex was staying with received an odd letter to give to Vex. The letter read: “Son of Drake, you are to meet me at the church tonight, before midnight or you will see your father in pieces by the morning. Come alone if you wish for this to be easy.”
Vex was unsure of what the letter meant, “In Pieces”, but Vex dashed out of the door and found the time had been two minutes until midnight. Vex ran as fast as he could, arriving at the church in town with one minute to spare. Vex kicked the door in with such strength, it could almost kick through a body with ease. With the doors flying open, Vex saw a woman standing in front of a casket with his father’s dead body inside. “Well, it looks like you’ve made it, son of Drake. You see, I never liked your father. He killed countless soldiers as did your wretched mother. I already had my way with her. She now serves as a rug in my home. Your father…he betrayed the King. That is unforgivable. Luckily he wasn’t the one to kill the King, but he did betray his country. To me, that makes you an enemy as well. So, fight me,” The female demanded, not even turning to look at Vex.
- The Fight Rages On...:
Vex would approach the woman with caution in his steps. The woman whipped around to look at Vex who immediately froze in his steps. Her eyes were those of a fighter, someone who would kill anyone who even looked at her the wrong way. But she evidently had a thing for the old King. The female pulled out a Cross similar to the Quincy Cross and it burst into the shape of a pistol. The female immediately fired at Vex, who rolled to the side and made his way behind benches to hide as the female continued to fire. The female would call out to Vex: “Come out, Son of Drake! Don’t want to disappoint daddy, not would you?” The female mocked as she fired into the roof of the church.
Vex made this his chance to rush at the woman and attempt to tackle her. She moved out of the way as Vex fell to the floor, the female firing at Vex. Vex rolled around, dodging the bullets and kicking her shins. The female fell to the floor and let go of her gun. Vex stood up as did the female which the two were now locked in close combat; Vex blocking and hitting right and left. The female seemed to have the exact training Vex had and they were in even standings. Vex began to increase the speed of his attacks as the female followed suit.
The two seemed evenly matched in almost every way, dodging and attacking in the same patterns. Vex had to think of something. Watching her movements carefully, she seemed to be slowing down a bit. Possibly due to her lack of endurance training, Vex continued at his speed. Finally able to land a direct chop to her throat, the female leaped back, wheeling around Vex and leaping over Vex’s father’s casket where she would proceed to pull out a blade large enough to be considered a short sword. The female slammed the edge of the blade on Vex’s father’s throat, forcing his father’s head to be completely cut from the rest of the body. Vex was not sure of how to react once more.
“What’s wrong Son of Drake?! Don’t like to see your daddy hurt? Oh boo hoo!” The female continued to mock as Vex reached to his Quincy Cross which was hanging on his neck. Vex pulled the Quincy Cross and released its power to unveil a Desert Eagle like pistol and fired at the female as fast as he could pull the trigger. The female danced around where Vex was firing and made her way into a path that was heading for the door. Vex continued to fire until a round had finally struck the female’s right shoulder. The female would wince in pain, but retrieved her Cross in the process and making a retreat to the door.
Vex stood in the church, sealing away his gun and walking over to his father’s body. Vex had looked down to see the head had indeed been removed. Seeing this, Vex would press his hand on his father’s unbeating heart. “I will find her. She will pay for this, I swear it. I am sorry, but I have to use my Quincy powers to do it. I will get stronger and I will kill her,” Vex vowed and left the church. The next day, Vex did not return to the church, but instead left to give chase to the female.
- Finding a Home:
A Century had passed since the incident and Vex retained a look of a 27 year old as he had wandered, doing odd jobs here and there to keep up his food intake and his training. The years were rough, but Vex had adapted to his lifestyle, taking shelter wherever he could and doing whatever he needed to in order to survive. But, his primary goal of finding the woman had remained unfulfilled. For all Vex knew, she could have been dead this entire time he was searching for her. But he would not quit until he was shown proof that she was indeed gone from this world.
Though Vengeance sparked in his heart, Vex followed his training and kept his father’s words by doing all he could that he believed to be right. During his travels, however, Vex had learned of a place filled with powerful Quincy’s known as the Vandenreich. This order known as the Vandenreich was said to be around for many years and Vex was curious as to why he himself had never heard of it, from his father especially. Doing a bit more research into it and hearing rumors here and there, Vex was able to understand that there were Eleven Members known as the Stern Ritter, who were classified as the Elite members or the strongest and their leader was known as the Vandenreich Emperor. Vex was already not a fan of the Vandenreich because of the Authoritative Figures and his previous issues with a Leader.
Vex didn’t really have time to weigh the pros and cons of joining up with the Vandenreich or not. Vex would join to grow even further into his power as well as possibly learn some new training methods. Upon joining the Vandenreich, Vex was put in as a foot soldier known as a Soldat. It didn’t please Vex to know he was only as strong as a common foot soldier, but he didn’t question it as right now would be a bad time to rebel. Vex had to follow orders and train, as reluctant as he was to do so. Vex didn’t fully understand what his orders meant by killing Bounts and things such as that, but Vex usually did intelligence gathering to learn what these “Bounts” next move was.
Coming into contact with a Bount on his own was no picnic for Vex as they seemed very powerful and controlled even more powerful weapons known as Dolls. Defeating these creatures was no easy task and the Bounts usually retreated back to their home as Vex had to occasionally when he was met with a powerful foe. But being met with a powerful foe was a treat for Vex as he would occasionally think of clever ways to defeat his foes. This would give Vex a sense of accomplishment when he returned to the Vandenreich to report his progress to the Vandenreich who just congratulated or thanked Vex whenever his missions were carried out. Serving this Vandenreich was never fun for Vex as he greatly disliked authority since authority is what he believed had his father killed.
- A Rogue:
Progressing through his training and missions with ease in the Vandenreich, Vex would be called to go on a mission with one of the Stern Ritter to learn of Vex’s true skills almost half of a century later. The mission assigned the two to investigate a Bount who had been considered a Rogue that was wandering around near the Vandenreich. The Stern Ritter and Vex had not spoken with one another while investigating, but instead focused on searching for the Rogue Bount. There had been no sign of the Bount so the two split up without a word.
Sticking to the shadows, Vex would listen carefully for anything out of the ordinary. The most he had heard would be the Stern Ritter’s footsteps and nothing more. Was the Bount just undetectable? It was a Rogue, so Vex did not see a reason why he should find this Bount seeing as it left its organization and now lives on its own. This would put the thought into Vex’s mind of becoming a Rogue since he had lived on his own for a while without the Vandenreich. Vex would continue to question what his own motives were for the future. Was he ever going to find the woman who had insulted his father’s corpse? He was sure she was a Rogue now since he had not heard of a woman like that or seen one that looked like her since he had fought her.
The search for the Rogue Bount had appeared to have gone fruitless and Vex began to make his way back to the Vandenreich. Reaching the entrance, Vex heard a noise nearby that was unlike the Stern Ritter he had been searching with. Vex squinted in hopes the noise would reveal itself to be the Stern Ritter returning. The noise was coming from a darkened area where Vex would not be able to see very well from his position, forcing him to approach the shadowy area with caution. Vex drew his weapon and was ready to fire when able. This would not stop a human-like being from coming out of the shadowy area with a grin spread wide across their face.
“So you’re a member of the Vandenreich, correct? That Stern Ritter was troublesome, but I handled it swiftly. I am that Rogue Bount you’ve been hearing so much about. You know, I know you don’t like working for that arrogant Emperor of yours; unless you find enjoyment in licking the boots of one such as himself. If so, then proceed to kneel before the crown. But I will say that being a Rogue, having left the Shataiki, has its advantages. I can assist whomever I wish and I do not have to follow orders from some egotistical-“ And those were the last words of the Rogue Bount before Vex had turned to see that a second Stern Ritter had stepped outside and somehow eliminated the Rogue without revealing what he did. The Rogue Bount seemed to just collapse in what appeared to be a heart attack. Vex would stare at the Stern Ritter with almost a glare. Vex followed the Emperor back inside but continued to think of what the Bount had said. Maybe Vex should leave the Vandenreich.
- The Hunt:
With the loss of the Stern Ritter, Vex was given the position with the Quincy Epithet of the letter V. Vex couldn’t really tell why it was the letter V. Possibly for his name? He was told it was for Victory. Vex didn’t really care what it meant, for it would not mean much to him for long. Vex would proceed to look after the lower ranked Quincy and read over their reports and missions. Of course, these missions were similar to what he had to do so there wasn’t anything really new except for a few missing Quincy every now and again. Vex assumed these were just Quincy who had failed their mission and died in the process.
Two centuries and a few years leaving Vex at the age of 314 had pas passed and Vex received information of two Quincy going Rogue and planning to overthrow the Emperor. Vex was intrigued by this bit of information and had began to go after the two who had gone by the names of Shen and Jayce by command of the Emperor. Vex had paid his respects to the Emperor and feigned obedience when he really just had to use this as an excuse to leave the Vandenreich. Once leaving, Vex would receive coordinates as to where the Quincy had been said to be located at. Unsure of how this information had been obtained, a report of a woman with them was mentioned. Could this have been the woman who had defiled his father’s corpse?
Vex had found the coordinates of where these Quincy were said to be and there was indeed a woman and two other Quincy. The woman looked remarkably like the one he had seen that night in the church. This had to be her; there was no mistaking the image. Vex had to restrain himself from firing any rounds from his Quincy weapon as it would attract the other two and if he had missed the female, he would be outnumbered. So instead, Vex watched the three for a while. From what the report read, the two Rogue Quincy had been away from the Vandenreich for many a year now and were said to not be too dangerous but had to be eliminated at all costs.
After much time of surveillance of the two Quincy and the female, Vex could see that she had been fighting with them, but more as a captive than a team. The two, which Vex learned that Shen was the one who maintained watch over the female for the most part as Jayce just seemed to wander around to scour the area for anyone following them. Evidently Jayce did not do a very good job when Vex had been watching the three for some time now. Vex would have to make a move soon. If he didn’t he would just be standing for hours, days, and weeks. The woods they were in were not going to hide Vex forever. The next day, Vex would make his move. After that, Vex would either return to the Vandenreich with the dead bodies in hand, or go Rogue if any of the three did not die and search for them.
- Making the move:
Vex would wait until morning, his chance to strike growing ever closer to the point where he would be forced to take down his targets swiftly. The one known as the one known as Jayce would be the first to be taken down, seeing as every morning he had gone to get supplies on his own whereas the one known as Shen would stay behind with their captive or partner. For Vex, the female’s purpose with them was uncertain as she didn’t seem to be a part of their schemes. With this in mind, Vex would continue to watch them as they had started their usual routine. But something was different about this time. Shen and Jayce seemed to be either arguing in whispers or planning something entirely different.
Shen and Jayce were away from the female but seemed to be turning their words to put an end to the woman’s life. As much as Vex would want that, he wanted to handle the woman himself. Vex had begun to notice the scenery setting seemed familiar to him, somehow, but Vex didn’t worry about that one bit. The two, Jayce and Shen made their way over to the female. Vex had to rush, for they were making their movements quickly. The two approached the woman, Jayce holding his Quincy Bow to the woman’s head. Swiftly, the woman drew a single pistol and fired at Jayce’s shoulder then got up to run deeper into the forest.
Vex gave chase, a little far behind since he didn’t want to reveal his position. After a while of running, Vex found the woman face in the dirt with her pistol sheathed. Vex was not sure how to go about this right now, but Jayce was close by a tree Vex was near, so Vex took his chance and grabbed a hold of Jayce’s jaw and forehead, twisting it in a fast and harsh manner until a combination of horrifying snaps could be heard. Hearing the snapping sound of his partner’s neck, Shen shifted his vision immediately from the woman to Vex. Shen made a rushing motion towards Vex, almost with no fear embedded in his body language. Vex would sheathe his pistol momentarily, dodging punches left and right. Shen was a man with a fair amount of speed in his punches, but nothing too hard to dodge for Vex. Finally a straight punch came towards Vex’s face, Vex ducked and quickly drew his pistol from his sheathe on his right leg and fired upwards at Shen’s jaw, causing Shen to fall in battle.
Standing up from his kneeling position, Vex would face the woman who was now on one knee. Vex aimed his pistol at her skull, his lips curving into a slight smile. “You know, I have waited for this moment a long time. I would finally see your death as you made me witness a second death for my father. He fought for what he believed in, and I’m sure you did also. But I don’t care about your motives or why you really wanted to do that to him. I just know this. You must die here before anymore harm comes to people. You don’t deserve to live, not while people are fighting for what is right. You are a murderer. I am fulfilling this duty and will give your corpse to the Vandenreich!” Vex exclaimed, pulling the trigger of his pistol almost immediately after his words.
- Confrontation and Interrogation:
The woman would react with swiftness, rolling out of the way to the right and whipping out a single pistol and firing it at Vex’s left leg. Vex lifts his leg, dodging the bullet with ease and walking forward towards the woman, his gun still aiming at her, but instead at her chest. The woman would fire her own bullets, which collided with Vex’s perfectly as if the two were in rhythm, but she seemed tired. Vex would utilize this to his advantage and continue to fire, moving ever slightly to the right with each bullet fired. Of course the woman seemed to see this clearly and matched his bullets with her own. Vex found it almost amusing, but proceeded to move towards her ever slightly, as to not get close enough for her to reveal a counterstrike against him. Continuing fire, Vex now started a slight jog to the right, readying to hide behind a tree.
Vex fired, the bullets still matching up. Vex was a little taken aback by how well she had been keeping up, but Vex didn’t really bother keeping his mind on how she was doing it. If this truly was the woman from the church, she would have been mocking by now. Unless she was far too tired or wounded to speak. Vex would move swiftly behind a tree that was directly to the right of the woman and readied himself for a rushing attack. The woman seemed to be in her position as far as Vex could hear. Vex whipped around the corner to see the woman now had two pistols and immediately retreated back behind the tree. This would not look good for him. Vex had to use his training from before and attempt to talk his way out of this.
"Who are you?" The woman asked from the other side of the tree. Vex didn’t give a response immediately. Had she truly forgotten? Was this really even the woman? Vex had to use this possible amnesia to his advantage. Leaning up against the tree with his pistol ready, Vex would speak, “You know who I am. My name is Vex Hræsvelgr, and you beheaded my father in a church.” Vex would await the woman’s response, and he got one. "What in the…are you talking about?" The woman asked, Vex completely ignoring the curse word that was said. Vex shook his head and peered out from behind the tree to see the woman had fell to her side in exhaustion. This couldn’t be the woman…or at least this is what Vex thought. She didn’t seem to have a clue who he was at all so Vex slowly approached her.
She was breathing hard, and fighting to stay awake. Her two pistols had dissolved. "I-" She took a deep breath, "I am Quinn Kylan," The woman closed her eyes, and then put her hands to the ground, and pushed herself to her knee. She would then stagger up to standing, her legs shaking, and her right leg was a few centimeters in front of her left. She spoke: "I'm not dead yet.” Vex would eye the woman further to be sure she was okay. She seemed completely harmless except for the pistols. Vex did not trust this woman in the slightest, but she meant him no harm. Vex extended his left arm outwards to see if she would take it. If not, Vex had his pistol ready in his right hand.
- A Rogue Decision:
The woman would make the two pistols come back and she would stagger forward, not quite in a straight line, point her right pistol at his head and her left at his pistol. "Why did you attack me?" She would ask, in a voice that was seemingly full of judgment. Vex gave a small smile, and raised his pistol to her head as well. “It was a misunderstanding. You aren’t the one I need to kill. And you are not going to kill me, so lower your weapons and I will lower mine. It’s as simple as that. Plus, you aren’t in any condition to be fighting me, now are you?” Vex would ask the question, holding his gun perfectly still at her head.
"You're right, I'm in no condition to fight you, but that doesn't mean I won't," She said, pulling her left gun to be aimed at the man’s forehead. "I guess you can say, I don't really trust you yet," The woman would continue. Vex took this to be slightly surprising, but he had to maintain his composure. “I am sure you don’t trust me. In fact, I don’t trust you in the slightest. You’re holding two guns to my head, and I am holding one to yours. I am going to offer you two choices. One, you pull the trigger and I will pull mine. We both die. Or you lower your weapons and I promise not to kill you,” Vex would offer, knowing that this would probably be his chance to leave the Vandenreich. He really did not want to return to serve a place of arrogance. Upon his offer, the woman would lower her weapons. Vex kept his word and lowered his as well.
Vex looked at the woman again, scanning her body for any wounds or anything of the sort. Nothing really, but Vex had to apologize to the woman somehow. “So, now that we have agreed to not kill each other, we are practically best friends,” Vex spoke sarcastically, “But you still need rest. I will hold my word and will not kill you since you were polite enough to hold your end…Didn’t want it to get messy anyway. But, do you know of a place where we may be able to hide out? Even though I threatened to take your corpse to the Vandenreich, I can’t do that now, can I? You were with these two, so you must have had a place before the Gruesome Twosome,” Vex asked the woman in hopes she would have a place for the two to stay. Otherwise, they would have to make a place their home and get actual working jobs.
The woman would laugh, fall forwards and say, "Sadly, nope. I got kidnapped by those two bimbos a while ago. Been quite a few years," and with those words, Vex tilted his head, ready to catch the woman if she had indeed collapsed as she appeared she was going to. Vex would then begin to think of the scenery. This was close to his father’s home. The two would be able to stay there for a while until they had found another place. His father’s house was probably rundown or sold by now, but Vex would take it back or fix it up. One way or another, they would have a place to rest and call home for a bit. At least until one departed, if that had ever happened.
- The Offer:
The woman would fall forwards and would be caught by Vex; she would look up at Vex, who seemed to be thinking. She passed out before she could say anything else as she would go limp in Vexs' arms. Carrying the woman now, Vex would look around the surrounding area to see he was actually really close to his father’s old home and rushed immediately there. Within the hour, Vex would arrive at his father’s home to see it was completely intact. Entering the home from the front, Vex would enter a living room, seeing a single couch pressed up against a wall with a picture frame above it. A small coffee table was across from the couch. Vex gently placed the woman on the couch and decided to explore his old dwelling until the woman awoke.
His bedroom was to the right of the living room, which Vex swiftly wandered into. The bedroom was just as he had left it. His bed still messy with training notes scattered across the walls and floor, a desk with old intelligence information. It was truly astounding to Vex how much the house remained the same for the length of time he had been gone. Shifting around, Vex would move out of the view of the doorway as he started to look through old intelligence information he had obtained when he was young. Most of his information had to do with when the marketers would be away from their products and when and where Vex should be in order to take some food. If he had ever got caught, Vex would claim to have dropped his food and escape with confusion to the guards.
Hearing muffled footsteps coming to the door, Vex had assumed the woman was awake and didn’t turn around as he believed she would not do him any harm. "Why are you here?" The female’s voice questioned Vex. Vex would turn his head slightly to have his right eye looking at the woman. “You don’t have to be rude to me. You should actually be thanking me on bended knee. I brought you to my humble home, kept my word by not killing you, and allowed you to rest on my couch. And as for what I am doing here, this is my room. You do not have a room. So really, I could ask, why are you still here? You’re alive, you have no reason to be here, so you can just go on your way,” Vex smirked at the woman as he spoke these words.
The woman would sigh and say, "Like I'd know if you wanted to kidnap me, or allow me to rest!" Vex chuckled and completely turned his body, his papers still in hand. “Well, I thought it was pretty obvious. A damsel in distress, falling into my arms and not killing me when she had the chance to send two bullets into my skull? I thought it was pretty romantic. You not killing me, me not killing you. A true love story. But, I would like to say you owe me. I did not kill you after all. You owe me your life. So, with your life, I wish you to fight alongside me. You seem capable enough and you’re evidently not built for sneaking around. You have been captured before whereas I have saved you by sneaking around for a while around your campsite. So, join me or leave. The door is right there,” Vex would offer the woman.
- The Deal and Partnership:
The woman looked hesitantly at the door then back at Vex. "Look. I don't really have that much of a choice if I wish not to go insane," the woman would respond. Vex’s lips curled further, the look of happiness taking over a mischievous child ready to destroy things people love was the only thing that could describe the smile that had taken over Vex’s face. “Alright, but…listen to me closely. We are not equals. We will work together until we are no longer in need of each other. I am chasing a woman who looks exactly like you, so don’t be surprised if I accidentally blow your head off or shoot a mirror. Mirrors can be pricey so we would be spending money if I ever see you in one. And one other thing; you will either refer to me as Hræsvelgr or Mr. Black. You got it? I will refer to you as ‘Girl I didn’t Kill’ or ‘Quinn’ so you are aware. Got it, Girl I didn’t kill?” Vex asked, extending his hand out to the woman in acceptance of partnership.
She'd lift the pistol she still held, and aim it right at his head. "We are equals, you got that? You'll call me by Quinn, and I call you Vex. I'm not taking any of your crap, and you better learn not to take mine. We will stand by each other, as we know we are equal in skill. You can't say I’m not, as I could match each shot you shot, as tired and near unconscious I was. Therefore, you may shut up." She wasn't exactly the happiest person on the planet with Vex. Vex would proceed to laugh out loud, his head arching back as if succumbing to madness with his laugh. He then looked back at her, the gun still pointed at him. “It seems I’ve struck a nerve. You see, if you were able to kill me you would’ve done it by now. You’re not going to kill me. You want to keep me alive in fear that you will end up alone, which is why you were about to take me up on my offer. I could do without you for all I care. I have done this on my own and can proceed without you. I saved your life and proceeded to not kill you while you were unconscious. Again, you owe me your life, we are not equals. You may continue the fantasy that we are equals, but we are in no way equals. Now, Girl who I didn’t kill, leave my home or take my offer,” Vex smiled, ignoring the gun in front of him.
She would summon her other gun, and point it at his ribs, right under his heart. "You act as though you are superior, yet who's truly the better person? The one who didn't kill, or the one who's truly innocent?" She would proceed to speak. “I am not acting as if I am superior, I simply am. I am the better man for holding my word whereas you threaten to go back on yours. I have provided nothing but kindness and an offer whereas you are holding guns to my head in attempts to make things better for one who is simply helpless without someone else by your side. You were working for the two Rogues without a problem and they threatened your life. I simply saved you and am providing you with an opportunity here. In fact, I am not even going to kill you, and you take arms against me when you did no such thing with them until they threatened you? Silly girl. If you’re going to kill me, pull that trigger and be alone knowing you killed the one who had shown you kindness. If you’re not, lower your weapons and either accept my offer or leave.” Vex would insist, his smile still upon his smug face. She lowered her weapons, but said, "I'm a perfect equal to you. Plus, I know exactly where to fire, EXACTLY where to injure you, so that you can't move very well.”
Vex laughed again, looking back at her closely as he leaned in to stare deeply into her eyes. “I could do the exact same if you believe you are equal to me. I know you think you are equal to me…but in reality, which is where we currently are, you are far beneath me and could serve as a useful tool. But, I will tell you what. If we do somehow manage to become equals,” Vex almost trailed off as he laughed at the word equals, “You may address me as such. But until then, you will be staying on the couch. I, on the other hand, will be taking the master bedroom,” Vex laughed some more as he retracted his head and proceeded around Quinn, making his way out of the bedroom. “Oh, and until you are on equal ground with me, do well to know your place.” Vex said as he proceeded to the master bedroom in the house, which was his father’s old room. Vex knew, on some sort of subconscious level, that this woman was indeed powerful and could possibly outdo him in a few things. Of course his ego would prevent him from admitting any such thing as everything was beneath him in his conscious mind. But, when Vex knew he was in for a battle he couldn’t win, he would retreat. But this woman, he knew he would grow to appreciate her power.
After their confrontation and acceptance of becoming partners, Vex and Quinn had began cooperating as far as mutual partners would. Helping one another fight off any who would threaten them, gathering intel that would hopefully lead to the woman Vex was chasing, getting food orders wrong, and every now and again clashing heads to get points across. The two would constantly bicker, but that is what people do. For ten years they would continue to do this, and for the future, what would come next? Would Vex ever find the woman? Would he rejoin the Vandenreich at any point in time alongside his female companion? Would Vex ever treat her as an equal? Maybe not, but the future holds many surprises and the two will continue their partnership as long as they could.
