The creation of man as told in the old testament is one that most individuals know by heart. As told within the Book of Genesis, it proclaims an age when the the Lord created life on Earth, including the first man. And from one of his ribs, soon came the first woman. The Soul King watched with his omnipresent gaze, taking in the companionship Adam and Eve shared. They showcased love, passion, and such features interested him to a great degree. He grew envious of these affections and, with a burst of his power, created another being. The lore proclaims her name as Lilith and she, in many ways, shared the might and power of the Soul King. Through their love and procreation, the two gave birth to the first raw form of what would eventually become the Shinigami.
But, like most marriages, time wears down on compatibility. As thousands of years passed, so did the bond they shared. Like all humans, she craved affection. She needed human companionship. No matter how mighty or powerful the Soul King may have been, he lacked what the woman truly needed. As thousands of years passed, so did their connection. In a joint decision between both parties, they officially split but with an agreement. Each would watch over the two realms, the King with the Spiritual Realm and Lilith that of Earth. He bestowed her one simple gift before her passing. It was a gift to remember him by, a large ruby-like gemstone. The King declared it to be a source of protection should she ever need it, knowing full well of the potential dangers she might face without his protection. Thanking him for everything he had done, the two departed as he sent her towards the material realm in a flash of powerful reiryoku.
Her first few years on the planet was a happy one. She was able to witness the culture she had only be described about and developed the friendships she always was envious over. And, for once, she was able to experience sex with a human and the pleasures it created.. The woman grew addicted and could not function herself without the love of another. It truly was to no one’s surprise that she soon adopted the world’s oldest profession where she could enjoy the sins of lust and sate them with her customer’s unsatisfied wantons. Such frequent behaviors gave her first earthly pregnancy. And, unlike with her trimesters Soul King’s child, she immediately felt something was wrong.
With the lord of all creation, she naturally absorbed the spiritual energies he possessed. With humans, she couldn’t get that. They simply did not have enough radiating out from their bodies to state their needs. Kishi had that effect. It was the material that constructed all life within the material realm. It was like a lesser version of sekkiseki and it simply it did not produce spiritual energy. It acted to contain it. With her body starved of such, she was unable to grow a child insider her and eventually passed it through miscarriage. For once, she felt pain and depression. Her body was dying and gradually growing weaker each day and couldn’t support one of the few gifts that separated her from man. She tried to fill this feeling with food, but such did not quench a certain thirst. That’s why, as she interacted with one of her lovers, her desperation grew far too great. A normal affectionate bite to the neck grew too hard and a certain flavor radiated into her mouth. It was delicious and frankly she could not get enough. In a weak scream of pain, Lilith felt his body grow weaker and wither until nothing but dust remained on her bed. She had killed him but in doing so gave her strength.
This became a common practice. Whenever she felt weak, a lustful invitation into her bed grew into a method to quench two desires: her sexual appetite and her spiritual health. Fear swept through her town and legends of the succubus grew rampant. But, the more she did this, the more she noticed something: her body was not aging. She was not the only one who noticed this change. So did the villagers of her home. They watched as men (and at times women) began to vanish while Lilith remained completely youthful and full of energy. With the decision of a mob, a group of the strongest men captured the woman in the middle of the night and tied her to a cross. That claimed she was a witch and only a pyre would spare her soul. As the flames ignited and pain filled her body, something happened. The gift granted to her by the Soul King erupted in a spiritual light. Though her eyes were clenched tightly in agony, the burn of the flames vanished.
She had been saved by a strange woman. Dressed in flowing robes and possessing unnaturally shaded hair, she freed the woman from her restraints and clutched the soul of a deceased humans in her hands. With a kind tone, she offered it forward and muttered “Eat.” Lilith did as she was told. The energy of the soul radiated through her body and promoted accelerated healing. Burns that would have crippled her radiated away like they were never there. The woman described herself as Fleder. She was the physical materialization of her soul, a method of protection should she ever need aid. She was a puppet that she could use for whatever she wished, a doll she could dress up and play with. Such fact satisfied her and, once resealed within that gem, Lilith packed her things and moved on to the next town.
No longer being able to live with humans was burdening for Lilith. The compassion was something she had grown rather accustomed to. She now had quite the weight on her shoulders. She would never be able to live with man as an equal. In many words, she was a monster and her presence emitted fear. With a long discussion with Fleder, the woman decided one and one thing alone: she would make a civilization of her equals. This was a task that took a long time to achieve. Over the next hundred or so years, Lilith continued tempting man with their lust and mothered a child with their seed. Due to the nature of her spiritual energies, the children that were born to here were nearly identical to that of her own. They could summon dolls to fight with them, suck out the souls of living creatures, and essentially were immortal. But, unlike her and her fertility, it seemed only reproduce a few times in their lifetime. She assumed it was due to one thing, and one thing alone: they were not meant for this world.
For years did they live in their own little town and functioned like a normal society. They had laws, rulers, and grew some of the finest fruits and vegetables in all of the land. When rumor came of other creatures like themselves, Lilith grew interested. It seemed in the spiritual world, Shinigami had created beings identical to themselves. These Bount, as they referred to themselves, were different. They were genetic experimentations that had been left completely infertile. Things were truly looking rough for the race. They would not survive if they could not reproduce. And, because of that, she knew instantly that they would eventually be a dying breed. Still, she kept up hopes and welcomed the hundred into their town. Together they learned of themselves and strengthened the bond of their race. They felt togetherness for once and held no qualms with the outside world. As the race did not reproduce often, consumption of souls grew taboo for any who was not pregnant, ill, or in need of regeneration. When they did, it was often the soul of a wandering human soul or the small bulk of a hollow.
But, even then, the power they possessed was something upsetting. As they reached upon the 1800s, a force came out of no where and began killing them one by one. They were fast, agile, and most of the bount could hold up no defense. Lilith lead a protective force against them, using all of those with strong dolls but it proved in effective. By the end of the night, the shinigami and their onimitsukido had wiped out 85% of their civilization. Fearing for their lives, most spread and wandered across the globe. Only a small group stood by the woman’s side and stayed together. As the years passed, they began to refer to themselves as the Shataiki. They were slowly evolving into a secretive society, living in the shadow of mankind. Over time, they spread outwards like a plague and populated every major city within the world. Though skills she had learned through her elder age, Lilith established communication pathways and traveling networks to keep her race in contact or method of escape in case they needed to escape.
Though this action allowed the Bount to exist in a world outside of the view of the Shinigami. However, it spurred a new conflict with the Quincy. Though at first, they got along through their over all similarities. In many ways, both races could manipulate outside energy and utilize reishi. They even identified as being species who both had nearly been on the But, after realizing how the creatures lived quickly grew problematic. The religious race found their existence sinful. They were the demons that their ancestors talked about in the past. This is when the blood war between them began. Though technically outnumbered, the bount possessed more strength. They could regenerate and absorb their attacks. Some could even turn offenses right back at them. They are threatening, but, overall, remain neutral in this war.
