A woman walked towards the the First Division's headquarters.As she approached the building, she would momentarily flash her Reiryoku. The immensity of it was something that could even be considered dangerous within the confines of Seireitei. So as to avoid mass-alarm, the release of her controlled Reiryoku was brief, even spanning over only a few miliseconds.
Her arrival to the sliding doors of the First Division's Headquarters was would occur sooner and sooner, but the walk would still take quite a while. Upon her minute journey, her thoughts wandered about. The war had ended quite a while ago, but the damages dealt to Soul Society were still apparent. She was certain the Captain Commander would have a harder time dealing with the matters needed to be taken care of with her absence from the First Division.
The woman had spent numerous years, centuries even, working with Xion, directly most of the time even. The time spent with her beloved Sensei had too many years to count. Xion was practically an uncle to her. She had trained with him, fought beside him. She considered him just as important as the rest of her family, perhaps more important than some of them.
Fond memories surfaced as the visage of the head of her family showed enjoyment alonside the Captain Commander. She could recall the vaguest of memories when it came to these two fatherly-figures.
If it weren't for the occasional person who would greet her一some to simply show manners and respect一as it was known that the Thirteenth Division Captain was big on being polite and respectful一, others out of association with her, who was once a person that gave orders out to these people as the 3rd Seat of the First division一the woman would lose herself in thought.
Her arrival to the front of the First Division Headquarters was imminent. What she expected to follow her return was a greeting by some First Division members before making her way towards the Captain Commander of the Gotei 13, but life is a journey which holds surprises in abundance. Who could tell if something were to arise一or rather, who could tell if someone were to come by.

Despite the 200 years Lanying has no longer been a resident of the Maggot's Nest, it was still required for her to 'check in' every now and then with one of the seated officers of the 1st division, which was why she was there, rather than in her own office in the 11th division barracks filling out paperwork. The meetings usually lasted about an hour or so and, upon the end of the meeting, she would bow a little to the officer, even though she didn't have to, grab her pristine Haori with the 11th division's insignia on the back, and leave the room.
As she was walking the halls heading towards the exit, she felt a large surge of reiatsu. Her battle instincts kicking in momentarily, she would release a tiny trickle of her own to see if she could figure out who's it was.
Not being able to do so was what triggered her to calmly sprint towards the location she had felt the reiatsu. She didn't have her zanpakuto with her, as she was forbidden from carrying it while in the 1st division barracks, so she would have to rely on her speed and her more than average hand to hand skills.
She finally arrived at the location. A few feet after the entrance, or exit in her case, stood a lone girl. Lanying could swear she had seen her before, but had no knowledge of where at the present time. Her face remaining as blank as it usually was, she would rummage around in her sleeve until she found her notepad and pen.
Calmly approaching the girl, Lanying would start writing in her notepad and present to her two simple phrases.
"Who are you?" and "What are you doing here?"

Her thoughts continued to rummage through her fond memories of the past, filled with the happy times she spent together with Xion and the head of her family; these thoughts were abruptly interrupted with the sensing of an opposing reiryoku as well. Subsequently, a woman一her hair presenting itself with some shade of red, matching her eyes in hue and contrasting well upon her skin much more tanned than her own devastatingly pale skin一practically rushed out of the Headquarters before stopping at the entrance.
Ah, Baozhai-dono.
While the name of the woman quite a bit taller than herself ran threw "Grim" 's mind一as the "Blue Moon" was once nicknamed一she continued walking at a brisk pace, noticing Baozhai standing at the entrance with blank face before rummaging through her sleeve to eventually bring out a notepad and pen.
Baozhai then began walking towards her, interrogating the woman who had aimed to visit what was once her very own place of residence.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
To the woman, Baozhai was a face she was quite familiar with. On occasion Baozhai would "check-in" with her, and more than once she had seen the Eleventh Division Captain converse with Xion on numerous topics. Nevertheless, she thought the two of them to be a bit more than acquainted; the fact that Baozhai was questioning her was a surprise.
"Greetings, Baozhai-dono. I am Osamerukami Yukari of the Osamerukami family: former Lieutenant of First Division and current Captain of the Thirteenth Division. I believe we've met prior, on occasion."
Yukari's preference of withholding formalities and manners held up strong and well throughout the years, chiseled into her personality through her family and previous positions一the current situation would be no exception.
While she had spoken "Greetings Baozhai-dono..." Yukari bowed before her senior, extending respect. Despite finding herself 'more-than-acquainted' with the 11th Captain, she still knew very little about her, so she had only expressed the most basic and expected payment of respects. Otherwise, the "Blue Moon" would only know tales of her triumphs and talent.

Hearing the woman's name made her relax. Now she remembered. She was once the 3rd seat in this very division, and then the Lieutenant. Lanying had 'checked-in' with her many times, but as she was bad with names and faces it never clicked. She then remembered that she had recently been promoted to Captain of division 13.
She bowed back to her and wrote in her notepad the simple phrase of "How are you?" She was aware that Yukari would most likely be aware of Lanying's reason for why she had to 'check-in' with the 1st Division. After all, despite it being stricken from her own personal record, it was still held in a file in the 1st division's barracks.

Yukari could tell that something in her fellow captain's mind clicked, though she wasn't certain precisely what it was. Nevertheless, the exchange of words, both verbally and written, continued.
"How are you?"
The 11th Division Captain had written these words on a notepad, presenting it to Yukari. Taking a brief moment to read, Yukari would further the conversation, in turn maintaining the manners she expected of herself. Her tone carried out lightly, her words seeming fluid, as if the polite and formal manner of speaking was natural rather than forced. The woman enunciated her voice through the diaphragm, so as to increase her already pristine voice's clarity.
"I am doing well, Baozhai-dono. I am on my way to visit Captain-Commander Yamamoto informally, in fact. How are you doing? May I presume you are 'checking-in'?"
The younger of the two held the syntax of her sentences and proper formality of her words intact, and rather well, even going so far as to not only return exchanged words when spoken to, but even offer her own kindling of a conversation.

Lanying would nod her head at the question presented to her. She was indeed 'checking-in'. She never liked it, but it was a requirement for her release from the Maggot's Nest. Even after being proven innocent, she was still a murderer and dangerous person. It was a wonder they let her rejoin the ranks of the shinigami, as well as allowing her the right to reclaim her position of 11th captain. She would write on her notepad again, using this as her means of communication had gotten very normal for her. Most people didn't question it if they had prior knowledge of it. The only times she wouldn't use it were during captain's meetings or during battle when she had to release into either shikai or bankai, however those were rare times.
Oh her notepad was the simple phrase of "May I join you?" It had been a long time since she had talked, well in her way of talking, to the Captain Commander and she had a few things to bring up with him. Like her lack of a Lieutenant and her division being in the shambles it was. All this damage from the war.
