| Name: Akio Vanitas Alias: The Rising Flare, Aki, and Kio Age: 750 Visual Age: 17 Gender: Male Reiatsu Color: Gold Hollow Hole Location: Center of the Throat, right under the Chin Affiliation: Espada Rank: Fraccion --------------------Persona-------------------- Appearance: - Spoiler:
Personality: Being known for his spunky and hyperactive style, Akio makes himself well known when it comes to entering a room or battle. Akio carries an enormous curiosity when it comes to women and tends to ask many questions when it comes to people’s awe inspiring abilities. His mannerisms tend to be that of a street kid; the ones that speak in phrases such as “Yo,” or “Bro,” which tend to get people’s attention as well. Akio also has a tendency to try and rhyme and make jokes whenever possible to throw his peers off their mental balance. Due to these actions, Akio doesn’t appear to be threatening in any way, which gives him an advantage when his opponent looks down on Akio’s fierce battling style. Akio is always ready to prove himself in a fight but never intends to kill anybody unless it is what he must do. Instinctive in combat as he is, Akio tends to also try and work out a fight that turns into a friendly sparring match. His golden tongue can turn an angry foe into a friendly rival for his fights in the future. Although being an Arrancar usually means one to be ruthless and outright aggressive with ones power, Akio sees his power as something to inspire others and leave them in awe as he fights. --------------------History-------------------- - Life and Death of a Rising Flare:
Everybody knew the loudmouth of their class; always seeking attention in any way, either by constantly talking to a crowd that would listen or pulling pranks on teachers and getting in constant trouble. That was Akio, the self-proclaimed “Rising Flare.” Akio never had any friends that would ever claim him to be one, so Akio himself claimed everyone he talked to as his friend. Akio was well versed in the way of sports, recreational activities and always had a fascination with the skies above. His dream was to one day soar with the birds, looking down upon the earth because he had finally risen above the people who saw him as a problem child. But what else was an orphaned kid to do?
Akio was bullied horrendously, always told he would never become the “Rising Flare” he claimed he would be. Akio took these as threats and fought back, no matter how pointless it was for him to fight back. Fighting the losing battles would only inspire him to fight on even harder to prove he can have a chance at becoming the “Rising Flare” he had aspired to become. The ones he called friends never stood in to help him, nor did they care. Akio had to impress them somehow to get them on his side, so he decided to do something amazing that would even cause the bullies to say his nickname in praise. Akio knew he was to be remembered and he had one chance to do it. Akio began to explore his options throughout the many activities he could pursue.
Being one to explore every activity available, Akio decided to take a chance he never thought he would take; one that would impress all of his classmates and rise to the skies as he had always dreams. Akio would be roller skating down a ramp that started from the top of a 350 foot mountain and ended with the ramp curving to a near 75 degree angle which would send Akio soaring through the skies. The ramp seemed perfect, his nerves were that of steel when he heard the crowd of classmates cheering him on to put his life on the line for them. Akio knew his risks, knowing that this could very well kill him…but it would be worth it. And with one inhalation, Akio lunged down the ramp at an outstanding speed that could rival a car going at maximum speeds. The wind began to tear at him and his clothes as Akio approached the end of the ramp.
The last ten feet of the ramp made Akio the most anxious. He would finally be able to fly, earn the respect of his classmates and become the “Rising Flare.” Akio looked up, seeing the bright sun and amazing blue skies come closer as he left the curve of the ramp and was now above the ground. Feeling the wind beneath him, Akio spread his arms out wide and pretended to soar, hearing the chant of his classmates: “Akio, Rising Flare!” This brought Akio the largest smile he could ever make, until his neck hit a sudden slam into a pointed rock which was to be his descending ramp. His body remained intact perfectly, just one large gaping hole in his neck which caused a near instant death.
- The Spirit of Flare:
The pain seemed to be gone as Akio regained his composure from the slam. Akio was no longer wearing his skates, but was instead in his normal outfit perfectly fine as he turned to his classmates. His classmates were now gone, probably coming to congratulate Akio on his amazing performance as Akio had planted in his mind. Looking around, Akio realized the sun was no longer in the sky as high as it used to be and next to him was a large stain of dried blood. Akio couldn’t believe it, almost refusing to as he realized he was now a spirit. A large chain reached down from his chest to the rocky ground below. Akio couldn’t stand it, his fear caused him to panic and yank at the chain, but it didn’t last too long. Akio just gave up and sat on the ground, alone.
Days and weeks passed by as his classmates would occasionally come to visit where Akio had met his demise, leaving flowers and regrets behind. Akio would occasionally try and talk to them, trying to cheer them up as well as try and convince himself he wasn’t dead. But inevitability got the better of him, regret for not living his life through and gaining respect from his peers seemed to eat away at him, as well as his chain as he looked down to see it slowly corroding away. Months and years passed, his chain still slowly corroding. Akio didn’t know what to do. Looking back up at the sky, Akio watched the sun as he constantly muttered to himself: “I will be the Rising Flare…I will rise above that sun one day and it will watch me…from this cold floor they will all watch me…” And as Akio muttered this, tears and anger came to him as he finally grew fed up with his situation, yanking at the chain as hard as he can. “I will not be left here! I will rise above that sun! I will show them all!” Akio screamed at the air for countless hours, day after day hoping that the chain would finally be done deteriorating, maybe returning him to his old self. Akio waited until one day it was so close to finally breaking; Akio growing ever so excited his body, well his spirit, was shaking and a final feeling of regret shaded over the young Spirit of Flare before the chain had completely corroded away. A sharp pain, like a jolt of lightning, had fired down through Akio and an unholy screech echoed as Akio looked towards the sky in anger and hate and finally...
- A Hollow Life:
The emptiness overtook Akio as his body was engulfed in black. His figure morphed into that of an avian-like creature. He knew one thing, one thing that would remain on his mind for a long time. He needed to feed, to devour the souls around him. Akio knew he had to become stronger as instinct took over his entire body. Many weeks and months of swallowing countless souls made Akio crave more, as if an addiction had kicked in. A feeling of larger souls came to him as he retreated to a realm known as Hueco Mundo where he would continue to devour hundreds of thousands of stronger souls. He needed them…
Being an avian certainly helped when it came to fleeing from stronger enemies, but was he really an avian? He wasn’t really birdlike, but he did have wings which gave him the impression he was some sort of bird. Using his preying skills, he would swoop down on even stronger souls until a feeling of satisfaction overcame him, causing him to evolve even further in his odd cycle of hollowfication. He would now become a Menos Grande.
Being one of the large brutes that seemed to know nothing but destruction, Akio found himself hungry once more and curiosity had him now eating his fellow Menos Grande. The other Menos, for some reason, didn’t seem to mind. After many Menos being devoured over the century and a half by Akio, consciousness seemed to find its way to Akio as his personality and mind returned to him. His body shrank down to a Wyvern-like creature. He was now an Adjuchas.
- The Rising Flare:
Turning into the Wyvern creature, Akio looked to find himself now in the deserts of Hueco Mundo, surrounded by many weak hollow that he could easily devour, but stronger souls seemed to be further off in the distance. Akio knew they were not to be challenged in his current state. Scouring the desert for many days, Akio finally found a pack of others that seemed to be like him. This pack seemed to be strong and Akio seemed to feel as if they were becoming what he remembered to be friends. Could they possibly be friends? Or were they just teaming up with Akio for his ability to hunt from the skies? Akio didn’t care either way and proceeded to hunt for more.
Akio now lead the pack, known as the Rising Flare by his pack for his personality, flight ability, and his appearance of a Wyvern. Able to fire Ceros from his mouth at a faster rate allowed for Akio to make quicker work of his prey and was able to devour many. ‘How long has it been? Maybe a century or two? Who cares? I got my bro’s with me so I can handle anything that comes my way, yo!’ Akio thought to himself as hunger seemed to grow larger.
Akio had gone to rest for a while as his comrades were to warn him if anything attacked or was nearby that could be a possible good meal. Waking from his rest within a few minutes, Akio overheard his comrades plotting something. “…This Adjuchas…we could just eat him, right? I mean, if we did, we could easily obtain his power and grow stronger!” one of his comrades said with excitement. “And if he wakes up? If he attacks us? We’d be out of luck. We’d be a meal within seconds…” the other comrade reasoned. “What have we got to lose? We aren’t going to become stronger if we keep letting him take the most of the meals, so why not kill him now?” The comrade debated. Akio felt anger rise in him as he rose to the skies with a fierce roar and a cero to lay waste to his now former comrades. Akio devoured them, feeling himself undergo one more transformation…he would now become a bit more human-like but still retained his Wyvern wings as well as tail, which now became like blades as well as his wings. His mouth retained a Wyvern like snout as well as his eyebrows molded over by the same shell that was once a mask. Akio's three century journey as an Adjuchas had come to an end...and from that came the Vasto Lorde.
- The Blue Moon War:
Vasto Lorde, a name not many hollow can call themselves and Akio had become one. He was now the Rising Flare which he wanted so desperately to become and now was on his way to become even stronger. And so Akio continued, devouring the weak and gaining more power. Time passed, Akio gaining better control over his new found abilities as a Vasto Lorde. They weren't all too new really, being that his abilities had just grown stronger, but each stage felt like something entirely new to the Rising Flare.
Almost midway through his seventh century...almost as if it could now become a celebration for Akio; Sort of like a birthday. He never felt as if he needed to stop growing in power, that he could only become stronger as he goes on with his days as a Vasto Lorde, but he knew there was something stronger out there. Something he had to become that would prove his worth. It could possibly be found in the large structure known as Las Noches that appeared to be a gathering of many white buildings.
Akio became curious of the mysterious structure. He wanted to venture closer, to see what surprises could await inside. Maybe it was just ancient ruins, untouched by anything in Hueco Mundo. It seemed to be an odd thing to think for Akio, but before he could even attempt to approach it, what seemed to be a war seemed to burst from beings that were unlike anything he had seen, but they appeared to be human-like. Akio had almost forgotten what humans looked like until he had seen these beings, fighting with odd and awe-inspiring powers. The fight, from his view, did not appear to be something he could win. His abilities wouldn't stack up to theirs, as he well knew from just their appearance as well as the feel from their spiritual pressure.
Knowing there wasn't really a way out from the war if he had leaped in, Akio instead turned tail and flew as far as he could. Though, when he had looked at the beings, he couldn't exactly tell how long their fights have been going on. Was it a war that has always been happening? Did it just start? Akio shook his head and remained as far as he could, until silence was all that remained. Akio would remain, but was this truly what he wanted to do? Did he not want to test his limits and show off his power?
After much debate with his decision whether to join that fight or not, Akio couldn't possibly handle that kind of power. It would mean the end of his and he knew this well. So Akio waited in cowardice for the fighting to end. After a months of his recognition of the fighting, the fighting seemed to end coming to a great silence. Akio, with new found confidence, started making his way back to the place he had been wanting to go to...Las Noches...well maybe after a bit longer with gaining more power. He had to find more to feed on in order to become stronger.
After much more devouring of weaker hollows, Akio started making his way to Las Noches and started to scout the sands, looking for more hollows to eat along the way. Hollows appeared to become far more scarce as he gathered closer to the white structure. A feeling of strange power, stronger than what Akio was accustomed to, seemed to be looking in the distance. From what Akio could see...it looked human. "A Human in this place? Sweet! Easy pickin's!" Akio immediately darted towards the Human-like creature from the skies.
- A Hope:
Akio gathered closer to the Human-like creature to notice that it had some sort of hollow mask on it, well a fragment to be exact. Upon further inspection of the Human-like creature, it also had a hole similar to that of a Hollow's on its lower abdomen. "Is that like some sort of Human Hollow thing? Awesome! I wonder if I can beat it. I mean, it's only human right?" Akio said excitedly as he gathered closer to it.
Upon arrival in front of the Human-like creature, Akio could tell this was not human and far beyond his power. But Akio didn't really care. It could have either been his thirst for more power or it could be an old sense of trying to prove himself. Akio strolled up casually to the Human-like creature. "Hey! I don't know what a human is doing here or why you have that freaky amount of power, but I want your power! Let's go, dawg!" Akio bounced excitedly as he got into a fighting stance. The Human-like creature pulled out, what appeared to be a blade and appeared in front of Akio within a split second, completely catching Akio off guard. The human-like creature seemed to be scanning him; Akio immediately jumped back and knew he was going to be taken down easily. This would not be an easy fight for him. Akio did not like what was possibly going to happen and charged at the Human-like creature with the hopes of landing a headbutt. 'I just have to make quick work of him.' Akio thought to himself.
The Human-like creature dodged Akio's headbutt attack and continued to scan Akio. Akio looked back at the Human-like creature and stared back. "What is it with you, man? You can't fight?" Akio asked, sounding a bit more cocky and annoyed. The Human-like creature didn't seem to like the question and slammed his foot into Akio's gut. Akio was sent flying and hit the floor with a lot of force, knocking the air out of him. Akio tried to regain his breath and gasped for air. The Human-like creature continued to scan Akio. "Okay, what...what is your deal?" Akio coughed as he got up from the ground and looked back at the Human-like creature. The Human-like creature asked Akio: "Do you know who I am? Do you know who you're dealing with?"
Akio was almost shocked that the creature could speak. "No better way to find out than fighting! I don't need to know how strong you are, who you are, or what you are! I just know that this is another fight for me to win!" Akio rushed towards the creature again, a little slower now that he was in pain. The creature grabbed Akio's face swiftly and slammed it into the ground. "What's your name?" the creature asked, avoiding contact with Akio's mouth so he could speak. "My name is Akio, the Rising Flare!" Akio exclaimed. The creature released Akio. "Let's make this a little more interesting..." The creature spoke, as he pulled his blade and tapped Akio's mask with some force causing the mask to break, leaving a small portion on Akio's right ear down to the middle right of his jaw and the rest of his body became human as the creature before him, but nude at this point. His Hollow Hole was in the center of his throat, but didn't prevent him from speaking.
Akio, looking over to his right hand, noticed that he was gripping some sort of ring blade, a chakram, with a chain that wrapped around his right arm. "Whoa...what is this thing? I can definitely take you now!" Akio said with a wide grin on his face. Akio leaped back and threw the chakram horizontally at the creature across from him, the chain unraveling from his arm and stretching pretty far. The creature knocked the chakram away to the left with ease and rushed towards Akio. Akio, using the force that the creature used to knock away the chakram, grabbed the chain and spun the chakram around in a counter-clockwise motion, hoping to hit the creature with the chakram or wrap him with the chain. The creature leaped over the incoming chain and swung his blade down at Akio's shoulder. Akio pulled the chain as quickly as he could to try and relieve some of the impact from the blade, but the creature landed his strike quickly and Akio was forced to leap back in fear that he would be killed, the chakram just falling to the ground and losing its momentum. Akio pulled the chakram back with some force to pull it back in and catch the center handle. Akio and the creature now stood apart from each other about 30 feet.
The creature didn't seem to miss a beat and fired a cero at Akio. Akio's eyes widened and he leaped to the right as far as he could with a roll as well, avoiding the cero. After the roll, Akio would kick in the direction of the creature and fire a cero through his feet. The creature just seemed to grab the cero and threw it back at Akio. Akio was taken aback by what had happened, but his body reacted to the incoming cero and rolled to the right again, dodging. "Okay, you're like some sort of super being or something! That was awesome! You have to show me how to do that! Tell you what," Akio winced a bit from the wound he had obtained from the blade earlier, "If I win, you follow me and teach me how to do those things! If I lose, I fight for you and you still teach me how to do those things! Deal?" Akio smiled, his wound now throbbing. The creature raised a brow. "What's to stop me from killing you?" the creature asked without hesitation. "The real question, bro, is why are you fighting me right now? Why haven't you killed me yet?" Akio asked with a smile. The creature appeared in front of Akio once more and slammed his fist into Akio's stomach, much harder this time causing Akio to spit up a lot of air and blood. "Good point. But I won't kill you. You have passion...I like passion...So, shall we continue?" The creature asked. Akio couldn't breathe and fell to his knees, gasping for air once more. Regaining his breath, Akio felt himself about to pass out. "...Maybe...after a nap..." Akio collapsed and passed out.
- Trials and Hardships:
Waking up much later and standing up, Akio found himself far away from Las Noches and looked around. Looking down, Akio saw that his wounds have been healed and that the chakram was still in hand and the he was covered in some sort of large rag. "I wonder...where did he go?" Akio wondered, then proceeded to make his way back to Las Noches. Akio found the creature sitting in the sands, staring off into the distance. Akio ran up to the creature. "Hey! Thanks for this rag! It gets kind of cold out here and thanks for not killing me!" Akio exclaimed, thanking the creature who didn't seem to fully acknowledge what Akio was saying. "I don't know who gave you the rag, but I left you there because you were too pathetic to kill." The creature stated, as if it were factual. "What's that supposed to mean?! Right! We haven't finished our fight...!" Akio then immediately threw his chakram at the creature, hoping to catch him off guard. The creature repeated his actions from last time, Akio still unable to handle the creature and passed out once again.
Weeks had passed, making a full month since the two had met and a month's worth of a fight finally allowed Akio to learn more of his abilities and allowed Akio to learn that he was, what was called, an Arrancar. Akio also learned that he was fighting, who was known as, the Primera Espada. This gave Akio slight hope for himself as he continued to fight. After a month of the fighting, Akio learned a new strategy while fighting the Primera Espada. Akio felt as if he knew what to do.
"Okay! Today will be the day I wipe the floor with you, bro! Let's go!" Akio took his stance, arched over with his Chakram in his right hand behind him along with his right foot. The Primera retained his motionless stance, watching Akio again. Akio ran towards the Primera and threw his Chakram, ready to dodge any attack that was thrown at him. The Primera rushed to the right, around the Chakram and readied his blade to strike Akio. Akio pulled his chakram back, hoping to strike the Primera from behind while he rolled the the right to probably wrap the chain around the Primera as well. The Primera back flipped over the chain and fired a cero at Akio while airborne. Akio rushed towards his Chakram which was on the right and grabbed it with a roll while rollwing away from the cero and firing his own while his feet were angled at the airborne Primera. The Primera grabbed the cero and threw it into the distance, away from the fight.
Akio regained his composure and hurled his chakram in a spinning clockwise motion, grabbing onto the chain as he did so. The chakram and chain were stretched out about ten feet, Akio being sure to spin it faster with each rotation. The Primera stood, just watching to see what Akio's next move was. Akio knew full well the Primera would dodge, but he had to land a hit somehow. Akio thought and then threw his chakram at the Primera when his chakrams reached maximum speed of 120 miles per hour. The Primera, seeming a bit more cocky, leaped onto Akio's Chakram and began running along the chain. Akio front flipped towards the Primera, firing a Cero with his feet once more, being sure to land on the left side of the chain as he landed. The Primera, only five feet away, cut the cero and rushed towards Akio. Akio yanked the chain to the left, hoping to get the Primera off of the chain. Akio noticed that the Primera was still running in the air, even as the chain left his footing. Akio then fired cero's out of his feet to launch himself into the air at an angle that would put him above the Primera and fired a second prepared cero to the back of the Primera's neck. The Primera was struck with the cero and seemed to go motionless. Smoke was now clearing and the Primera just reached to the back of his neck not as if he was really hurt, but more of analyzing the strike of the cero. Some blood was shown.
"You made me bleed...But our agreement still stands." The Primera slowly turned to Akio, then appearing in front of Akio with the hilt of the blade slamming on the top of Akio's skull. Akio felt dizziness take over him as he felt consciousness slip away. Before Akio had completely passed out, the Primera spoke: "Well, I guess you lost. Looks like you fight for me now."
After a while, Akio had awoken to his new position as Lead Fraccion to the Primera Espada. Akio had not known what this meant for him, nor did he care. He had still thrived and lived for the fighting he had grown accustomed to with the Primera and challenged the Primera to a sparring match every chance he had. Fighting for the Primera would mean that the Primera knew Akio had some sort of power. Akio knew he could one day beat the Primera, in the pit of his gut, he would keep fighting the Primera as well as fighting for him. This would be his new home.
